The Narwhal Imperial Stout from Sierra Nevada for me was smooth and silky dancing on that dangerous line as the 10.2% ABV was not as detectable as I thought it would be. Dark as can be and with notes of coffee and cocoa, this smooth yet syrupy feel ale brought a nice sweetness that was well balanced and just slid down my throat with a nice velvety feel. It was about halfway through the glass that I started to feel its warmth from the booziness, but even then, it still was not bothersome. This was a fine beer from Sierra Nevada indeed.
